Stephen Parry is one of a small group of potters working in England that use wood as fuel for firing. Stephen trained at Croydon College of Art 1974-77 and after graduating worked at the Dartington Pottery Workshop 1977-79. He set up his present pottery in Norfolk in 1981 after a further period working in France( two years) using wood-fired kilns.
Stephen in many ways is like Richard Batterham, he makes a limited range of functional pots each though beautifully designed and made, and like Batterham he has a very distinct and recognisable style. Glazes are made from different types of wood-ash all work is fired in his crossdraft wood-fired kiln to 1300°C
