ilkun chun

ILKUN CHUN was born in Kyoto, Japan, in 1947. From 1966 to 1971 he studied drawing at Osaka City Instutute of Art. He visited various pottery workshops in Japan in 1974.
In 1975 he built his own workshop and kiln. Chun had his first exhibition at Hirakata Civic Hall, Hirakata in 1980. He moved to Ichishi Mie in 1988, where he built a house and pottery studio along with three kilns. There were further exhibitions in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya and Korea. Ilkun Chun died in November 2011.

BOTTLE
A large bottle of Korean form, engraved pattern of grapes and vines. The engraved pattern is filled with white clay and overglazed in celadon. This is very much a Korean technique and was highly appreciated by the Japanese.
